lyrics
All the diamonds in the deck have been dealt away. Still holding out for the royal flush. The bluejay’s a beauty, but it’s bashing out mouse brains between its beak and the base of a bush. It’d be just fine just to find that maintenance high. Come up with a motion just to move through it. Digging a hole just to fill in a pit. Wove a shroud out of circumstance and sound to wrap a hush around my ears. Tied a gold tooth down with a lariat that I found could choke out the years. Drilling a hole just to wear down the bit. Spending every night in the lights of that laundromat. Picking out cigarette butts from a bucket of gravel and ash. Splitting every piece of the pine to find the edge of the blade. Clearing the leaves from the lawn just to shine the tines on the rake. Planting the hedges in an attempt to make the maze. The coast is clear for days.
